Iyovwaye Says Delta Can Produce More of What It Currently Imports

Chris Iyovwaye has outlined industrialisation and increased local production as central elements of the economic approach he says he would pursue if elected governor of Delta State.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE News, Iyovwaye said Delta State has resources and economic opportunities that could be developed to increase local production and reduce the amount of money leaving the state through imports.

He argued that greater investment in agriculture and industry could help create a more productive economy within the state. According to his proposal, locally producing more goods currently imported into Delta could reduce dependence on external supply chains and limit the impact of foreign-exchange fluctuations on the state’s economy.

Iyovwaye also pointed to agriculture as an area with significant potential. He said Delta’s agricultural resources could be developed through increased investment and stronger links between agriculture and industrial production.

The governorship candidate said his proposed approach would involve putting more of the state’s available resources into productive economic activity.

He described industrialisation as a major difference between his proposed approach and what he characterised as the existing economic structure. His comments were presented during the ARISE News interview as his own political and economic proposals ahead of the 2027 election.

The proposal forms part of Iyovwaye’s broader public messaging around industrial development, agriculture, employment and economic activity in Delta State. Arise News
