Iyovwaye celebrates Oyedepo at 72, says Delta needs rebirth

Papa, happy birthday sir. On behalf of myself, my family, and all Deltans who believe in a new Delta, we celebrate you today.

Today is not just another birthday. Today we are celebrating a man who has changed what it means to believe in God in this country. Many of us grew up listening to you. You taught us that as a child of God, you should not be stranded. You taught us that faith works. And you did not just preach it, you showed us with your life.

You started with nothing, but look at what God has used you to do. Universities, thousands of jobs, raising leaders all over the world. That is why I have premised this tribute on Rebirth.

Because Delta needs a rebirth, Papa.

If you look at our state today, my heart bleeds. A state with everything – oil and gas, good land, smart young people, sea, river, everything God gives to a state to be great. But what are we seeing? Suffering. Our young people are leaving. Our parents are tired. Government has become about sharing small money to keep people quiet, while our future is being wasted.

I have said it before and I will say it again here in the presence of God, Delta State needs to be born again.

And that rebirth must follow the example Papa has shown us. What is that example? Vision. Papa saw Canaanland in the bush. He saw Covenant University before any building stood. Our Delta has no vision. In our government, we will bring back vision. Long term planning. Not this election to election planning.

Your hard work, Papa teaches us that you don’t just pray and sit down. You pray and you work. We will build a Delta that will not give our youths 5k to go and shout, but will give them work, skills, land, and money to produce something. A productive Delta.

Covenant University values is built on integrity, diligence, and responsibility. That is what is missing in our Government House today. We will bring back integrity. When we say we will do a road, we will do a road. When we budget money, that money will be used for Deltans.

So on this your birthday, Papa, I pray for you. My prayer is that God will keep you long, in good health, with more anointing. You will see your children’s children. And you will see this new Delta that we are praying for.

Thank you for all you do for Nigeria. Thank you for showing us that it is possible.

Happy birthday once again Papa Bishop David Oyedepo.

God bless you sir.

God bless Living Faith Church.
